DPUC Hosts Booth at Stamford Town Center in April
April 06, 2005
The Department of Public Utility Control's (DPUC) Consumer Education Outreach
Unit, designated by the Connecticut Legislature to educate the public about electric
restructuring, will be manning an informational booth at the Stamford Town Center
Mall during the month of April. Beginning Wednesday, April 6th, mall visitors
will be able to stop by the booth located on the fourth floor to learn about choosing
an electric supplier, as well as handy tips on saving money through energy efficiency.
A limited number of energy efficient light bulbs will be given away during the
first day of the exhibit. Representatives from the DPUC will be on hand Wednesday
through Sunday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., to help people understand the changes that
have taken place in Connecticut's electric market.
Connecticut's electric consumers have the option to choose the company that generates
their electricity. In addition, the "CTCleanEnergyOptions" program established
by the DPUC offers electric consumers environmentally friendly alternatives to
traditionally generated electricity. The two companies that are providing clean
choices to electric consumers are Community Energy and Sterling Planet. Consumers
who choose either of these companies will continue to receive their bill and service
from their distribution company, either The United Illuminating Company or The
Connecticut Light and Power Company.
